One of these days I promise I am going to get into the habit of blogging several times per week. I truly want to do so, however work has been kicking my little behind this week, so I am very far behind.
For now, I bring you this simply splendid new features here at Makes it Work, Erin Likes to Read, where I will be reviewing things randomly selected from my book shelf.

Resurrection In May is the story of May Seymour, a young girl who graduates from college and heads to Africa on a missions trip, which is more a mission to find herself. Caught in the middle of a country fighting a brutal Civil War, May begins to find her voice until she’s left in conditions that break her spirit.
Returning to Kentucky, May seeks the love and support of the sweetest old man–Claudius Borne. Claudius runs the Borne’s Last Chance farm, where he offers refuge to a shattered May. Here she learns about the power of the earth, the pull of the heart and how to come alive again.
Author, Lisa Samson, writes with such beauty that this book literally brought me to tears a time or two. The first few chapters, were admittedly hard to get into, but after finishing the book, it makes sense. Ms. Samson brings forth some major characters, the kind who stick with you, and it take awhile to build that up.
For anyone looking for a story that reflects the human spirit, I recommend this story with two major thumbs up! While the themes are tough, this book is ideal for anyone from high-school age to 101.

I definitely recommend it. There is an element of Christian faith to it, but not so overwhelming. For me it was the power of the human spirit that shined through.

Definitely check it out. While it is classified as a Christian fiction book, that wasn’t the overwhelming theme for me. For me it was about peace and rebuilding life.
